Has Garnett been good at hiding how weak he really is?

Garnett has always had this tough guy persona. But recently, he missed two games with the flu while Kobe scored 19 points while having the flu. Then the game against the lakers when things weren't going his way,he resorted to trying to pick fights to intimidate people. When that didn't work, he just hung his head in disgrace and walked away.
